Purpose of the Role
As a Controls Engineer, you will play a central role in designing, developing, and programming automation systems that bring complex machinery to life. You will translate customer requirements into fully functioning automated solutions, integrating robotics, motion control, and PLC-based systems. This position is ideal for technically driven problem-solvers who enjoy both hands-on engineering and the creative design aspects of automation development.
Key Responsibilities
System Development & Programming
Design, program, and commission PLCs, motion controllers, and robotic systems.
Transform customer concepts into reliable, scalable automation solutions.
Perform offline programming, testing, and validation of controls functionality.
Technical Execution
Conduct hands-on system integration, troubleshooting, and optimization (approx. 50% of workload).
Review and interpret electrical schematics to support system design and commissioning.
Utilize AutoCAD for drafting and electrical documentation (experience preferred).
Project Management & Collaboration
Contribute to project planning, timelines, and stakeholder communication.
Present system designs and concepts to customers and internal teams.
Participate in regular engineering meetings and cross-functional reviews.
Continuous Improvement
Bring forward creative ideas and enhancements to improve machine performance and customer satisfaction.
Support the adoption of robotics and collaborative robot (cobot) technologies within automation projects.
Required Qualifications
Technical Background
Minimum 2 years’ experience in machine design, automation engineering, or controls programming.
Experience with programming languages in the Microsoft .NET framework (1+ year).
Strong foundation in PLC, robotics, and motion control programming.
Familiarity with electrical schematics and electrical troubleshooting practices.
AutoCAD and cobot experience are considered a significant advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Strong programming aptitude with an analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present designs clearly to customers and colleagues.
Demonstrated teamwork, problem-solving ability, and commitment to high-quality engineering standards.
